Custom event title formats

Configure safe placeholders for output labels without changing event matching, schedules, stable IDs or playback URLs.

Choose existing formatting or a custom template

Use the existing date-format/time-zone controls when their presets meet your needs. A custom output title template lets you combine the event title, slot, broadcast label and formatted date/time without changing the underlying schedule.

Set a global format or a service override

  1. In a supporting release, open Settings → App → Event output title format and choose Existing format or Custom template.
  2. For one service, open Service Outputs and choose Use global setting, Existing format or Custom template.
  3. Use the editor’s presets/placeholders and inspect its preview in the operational time zone.
  4. Save and refresh an affected generated playlist. Static slot names take precedence; turn that off only when dynamic titles are wanted.

Copy an example and review the preview

{date:MM/DD} {time:h:mm A} {title}
{slot} - {title}
{slot} - {title} [{feed}] ({date:M/DD} {time:HH:mm} {timezone})
PlaceholderValue
{title}Current event title with existing broadcast disambiguation.
{slot}Stable slot name; absent for a standalone saved event.
{feed}Known broadcast feed label.
{competition} / {service}Known competition or service name.
{timezone}Operational time-zone label.
{date:pattern}Date tokens such as YYYY, MMM, MM, M, DD, D.
{time:pattern}Time tokens such as HH:mm or h:mm A.

Uppercase M is a month; lowercase m is minutes. Missing metadata stays blank; a missing date is not replaced with today. Arbitrary expressions and executable templates are not supported.

Presentation only

Templates format applicable stable-slot/saved-event playlist labels and corresponding output names. They do not change event IDs, assignment rules, structured native event titles, schedule instants, playback URLs or permissions. XMLTV programme timing remains source data. A pretty title is not a recording reservation.
