XMLTV and channel matching
Import large programme guides safely, inspect matches and correct them by hand when needed.

Add an XMLTV source
- Open All Access Tools → EPG Sources. Add an HTTP/HTTPS XMLTV URL that the main server can fetch.
- Save and refresh it. Wait for import completion; pasting a URL does not immediately create channel matches.
- Inspect import status, channels and errors. A large compressed feed needs time, disk and database capacity even when network download is fast.
- Choose a sensible refresh cadence. Avoid many overlapping imports of the same full-country feed.
Redirects, gzip and deadlines
Imports support validated redirects, streaming download and bounded XML/gzip processing. Network, decompressed size, execution and staging limits still apply; they are intentional protections. A deadline error is not an expected success result for a large feed. Inspect the import log, effective feed size, server load and version before raising limits.
Inspect auto-matching
Matching uses available channel IDs, normalized names and source metadata. It is deliberately conservative where alternatives are ambiguous. Similar names can refer to different countries, regions, time shifts, HD variants or sports feeds. An automatic suggestion is not proof that the programme guide belongs to the channel.
Manually correct a match
- Find the affected channel in the EPG matching controls.
- Review suggested candidates and preview their programmes. Check region and time zone, not just a similar logo.
- Set the desired source/channel explicitly or clear an incorrect match.
- Refresh the subscriber XMLTV and check its
tvg-idagainst the playlist channel. - Retest in the native guide or downstream player; some clients cache XMLTV separately from playlists.
Event guide data
Stable slot/event EPG can advertise scheduled programmes when provider metadata and assignment are known. Set event date/time presentation separately from the schedule timestamps. A broadcaster name from a public fixture schedule is not necessarily a known playable provider feed in advance.
Publish the correct XMLTV link
Copy XMLTV from the Access Line access information so it follows that line’s permissions. An operator-level guide is not automatically the subscriber’s guide. Correct channel categories control playlist grouping; XMLTV matching controls programme association. They solve different problems.
