Recordings

Schedule recordings, verify completed media and expose only the intended recordings to subscribers.

On this page

Create a recording

  1. Open Content → Recordings. Choose the supported source and scheduling options offered by the page.
  2. Check the start/end times, time zone, storage and expected programme duration.
  3. Confirm the stream/account can play the event before relying on the schedule.
  4. Check status during the recording and probe/play the completed file.

Plan for disk and source availability

Recording consumes disk and needs a usable source during the recording window. A provider can change rights, feeds or availability after the schedule is created. Worker live placement, VOD download destinations and recording storage are separate controls; do not assume a VOD worker-folder change relocates recordings.

Make completed recordings available

The native API/player can expose authorized published recording media where supported and enabled in the output profile. Grant it through the subscriber catalogue. Personal DVR scheduling is not currently a native player API capability; do not confuse “can watch a recording” with “can schedule personal recordings.”

Downstream scheduled recording

A downstream player may use xOTT XMLTV event entries and stable channels to plan its own recording. That job executes in the downstream system, not necessarily in xOTT. Verify its guide IDs, time zone and recording permissions separately.
